Charger Wrestling - CW Stanford Middle School

The Stanback match has been rescheduled for Wednesday (2-10) at 4:45.  This is no longer an early release day.

Please plan to come and cheer on the 2X defending State Champion Orange High Panthers as they host the first round of the State Dual Meet Championships on Tuesday, February 9th at 6:00 in the Orange High gym.  Come out and fill up the gym to cheer on several former Charger Wrestlers.

Southern Match Cancelled:  This match will not be made up.  See note below about 8th grade recognition.

Tournament Information:  The OPAC Tournament will take place on February 13th (Saturday) at Chapel Hill High School.  Wrestlers will need to arrive at Stanford by 6:50am so the bus can depart by 7am.  There will be two mats for the starter tournmanet and one mat for the non-starters.  Admission for spectators will be $5.  More information will be handed out next week.

Camp Dates:  Once again, we will be attending the Appalachian State Wrestling Camp.  The dates for this camp are July 15th-18th.  More information about this camp and other camps will be posted later in the Capms and Clinics page.  Also, an end of season packet will be handed out to each wrestler with camp information.

Family Cookout:  We are looking to plan a family cookout for a Sunday afternoon in March at Ebenezer North Campus (formerly St. Marys school).  Last years event was a great success.  A final date will be announced soon.  Also, we will do our 8th grade recognition at this time due to our final home match being cancelled.

Jan 22nd:  The Chargers completed a tough week of wrestling with a 66 to 21 home conference victory over the Grizzlies of Gravelly Hill.  Perry McLelland, Collin Smith, Silas Anderson, David Peters-Logue, and Finn Hubbs had pins while Ben Albaugh and Juan Torres picked up victories. 

Jan 20th:  In an intense night of wrestling the Charger wrestlers faught hard and came away with a hard earned victory against the defending Durham County Champions, Githens.  Pins from Trevor Rasberry, Jared Flynn, Ben Albaugh, Silas Anderson, David Peters-Logue, Finn Hubbs, James Harward, and Dylan McKinnon along with gutsy performances from Travis Holt and Nick Gentile helped lead the Chargers to a 60-27 victory.  Also playing a key role in the victory was the support from all the wrestlers on the sideline making it a great wrestling environment..

Jan 15th: The Chargers remained undefeated for the season after a 72 to 18 victory at home on Friday night.  Chase Underhill, Collin Smith, Kaleb Cates, Silas Anderson, David Peters-Logue, Chase Austin, and Jake Frederick all had pins for the Chargers.

Jan. 13th:

On Wednesday, Jan 13th, the Chrargers made the long trip to Southern Roxboro and returned home with a commanding 82-6 victory.  Leading the way for the Chargers with pins were, Chase Underhill, Kaleb Cates, Silas Anderson, David Peters-Logue, Chase Austin, Travis Holt, Juan Torres, Richard Miller, and Jake Frederick.  Trevor Rasberry scored a major decision victory to remain undefeated for the season.

Jan. 8th:

On Friday, the Chargers put together a strong performance from beginning to end with a 62-15 victory over the rival Bulldogs from Stanback.  Scoring pins for the Chargers were; Kaleb Cates, Finn Hubbs, James Harward, Chase Austin, and Jake Frederick.  Trevor Rasberry, Collin Smith, Silas Anderson, Dylan McKinnon, Travis Holt, Tyler Reitano, and Richar miller also picked up wins.

Crongratulations to all Charger wrestlers, parents and coaches who made this years middle school state tournament a success.  Over 40 Chargers represented the Team Orange Wrestling Club in the event at Winston Salem.  Everyone got at least two matches and all had a good time.  Thanks goes out to all the parents who helped make this happen.

Big congratulations goes out to our four State Champions.  Bryce Wilson and Drew Lemaster finished first in the 6th grade division while Chase Underhill and David Peters Logue battled through brackes of over 25 wrestlers to finish first.
